Your dad probably had a corduroy shirt or two in the closet. It’s the one in the faded photos with the stiff-as-a-board wide wale cords. This is not that shirt.
For our new corduroys, we went to Japan—masters of Americana workwear fabrics—and found these beautiful, heathered corduroys. They are surprisingly soft and light (it won’t feel like a shirt jacket) with an ultra-fine wale that’s almost refined. The heathered yarns add a subtle visual texture as well.

Very comfortable light weight fabric that doesn't feel flimsy. Color is not as described, this "navy" is more like a stonewashed indigo; half of the threads (the backing of the fabric) are actually white, so rather a lot of narrow white stripes show especially at seams and folds (like the edges of the button placket and cuffs), making the shirt look overworn and a little threadbare. If the backing threads were black instead of white, I'd give this five stars.

Nice fabric. Very soft to the touch and slightly thicker material to give it a little bit of weight without being too heavy.

This fabric is a bit softer and lighter than you might expect, but still looks fantastic.

Decent weight to this fabric. Not a super coarse corduroy, so it still feels pretty smooth and uniform as you run your hands over it. It's a nice corduroy if you aren't looking for a super intense corduroy feel and look.

A great weight for a corduroy shirt, heavy enough to feel substantial without being suffocating
