Overview
Our Legacy Oxfords are the ultimate expression of the classic oxford — a seriously upgraded 3-ply fabric from the world-renowned Thomas Mason mill. The three-ply construction adds both heft and a more refined handfeel while retaining the unmistakable texture you expect in an oxford. If nothing but the best will do, this is your shirt. We like our oxfords styled classically with a soft button-down collar for a glorious collar roll, but rules are made to be broken so don’t shy away from trying something more adventurous (if you dare).
About the Fabric Mill
Thomas Mason
Founded in 1796 by its namesake during the height of the English Industrial Revolution, Thomas Mason has become synonymous with quality shirting and classic English style. The tradition continues to this day, with the mill generally regarded as one of the finest shirting weavers in the world.

Very smooth and comfortable, but much lighter and less opaque than most oxfords. Would definitely order this fabric in blue, but not white.

As an oxford addict whose closet has enough iterations of this type of fabric than one could ever rationally need, this one has to be my favorite... which is almost heartbreaking in the sense that I now ask where to go from here. The fabric is of a lighter nature than Ratio's hardier campus oxford, but is still unmistakably an oxford. I understand the comparison to broadcloth however I feel this may only be in the sense that both fabrics are suitable for more formal / business professional situations. This shirt will still blend right into more casual settings that one may imagine an oxford in. You can hop from the beach to the boardroom in this one. Super comfortable with clear nods to its hardier heritage, I strongly recommend this one to any oxford lover or anyone who likes a bit of versatility.

Not too heavy not too light, just right

This is fundamentally a very good Oxford fabric. It’s extremely smooth for an Oxford. Rivals a Royal Oxford - feels like the yarn is exceptionally fine. That’s great for a soft hand. However, the fabric has far more translucency than one would expect from a non-Royal Oxford cloth. I’d put this fabric on par with a broadcloth for opacity. Be prepared to wear an undershirt. I had this made as a formal dress shirt - standard fused English spread collar, French cuffs, etc. It’s actually just about perfect for that use. Not a fabric I’d recommend for the typical casual Oxford shirt construction. That doesn’t make it bad by any means. It’s kind of the Oxford aficionado’s best dress shirt.
I took one star off because the fabric description could use a rewrite emphasizing the fineness of the yarn and resulting opacity issue. This description lacks an opacity scale entry (1-5) like most other Ratio cloth listings contain. Lastly, there are multiple white Oxford fabrics available from Ratio. I’d recommend cross shopping those since this one is the most expensive of the lot. I really like this one though
