The chamois shirt is a workwear legend, made famous by American brands of decades past. The name “chamois” comes from the leather of the same name, a soft and suede-like leather from mountainous goats in Europe. The handfeel was so desirable that fabric-makers began to replicate it in a heavy-yet-soft brushed cotton.

To make our version, we found a vintage 70’s-era version and replicated the weight and handfeel with our mill in Portugal. At a beefy 9 oz. brushed cotton that will soften over time, you can wear it as an overshirt (consider creating a more generously-sized Blueprint) or all on it’s own.

The Marsala Chamois is created with a vibrant burgundy on the warp and a dark navy on the weft. Resulting in a rich jewel toned burgundy perfect for the winter months and holidays. Throw on your favorite work boots, a pair of ochre chinos, and the Marsala Chamois for a look ready for the ranch. If you are feeling the holiday spirit wear the Marsala Chamois with a pair of green chinos for your next holiday party.

I may have just been unlucky, but I used my standard blue print (which isn’t particularly tight fitting) for this fabric but it ended up being quite a bit smaller than it should have. Not sure if that’s because the fabric is quite thick and that just threw things off. May want to consider adding some “buffer” in your measurements. Nice color though.

Great quality and wears comfortably while looking professional

Soft, like being constantly hugged. Tough enough that I can wear it out into the elements.

Vernon B. (Seattle, WA)

This fabric is heft with significant structure. It's thick and tough. The red is beautiful with a dark undertone.

Jochanan B. (Eugene, OR)

This fabric is the shit. It’s one of the best Ratio fabrics I’ve seen (I own about a dozen). It’s super beefy but not too stiff. Feels like it’ll last a lifetime. My only complaint is that I wish they had a larger array of colors (and other, similar, beefy fabric options). If you like a heavyweight shirt, you won’t be disappointed.
