What makes the perfect flannel? For us, it’s softness. Our hunt for the perfect flannel led us to the Portuguese flannel experts at Somelos, where we developed our new exclusive Mesa Flannel quality.

It’s brushed on both sides to make it incredibly soft. We also chose finer yarns than you’ll typically find in a flannel, which makes it both softer and lighter than expected.

This is the kind of flannel you can break out during Indian Summer days and wear it all the way into spring. Layered-up or worn on its own, the Red Buffalo Check is the perfect complement to your fall wardrobe.

About the Fabric Mill

Somelos was founded in Portugal in 1958, first making yarns and later adding cotton fabric production to its repertoire. The family-run business has become the benchmark for yarn-dyed men's dress shirting in the global market, and weaves fabric for many of the top brands and designers in menswear.

Personally I wouldn’t rate it as a heavy weight fabric, more of a medium especially for a flannel, but it’s beautifully soft and feels pretty warm.
I’m very happy with it!

Heavy enough to be warm. Light enough to not weigh you down. A great balance.

This is a perfect flannel! It's warm but not to heavy, and has a surprising amount of structure, so you can wear this without worrying about looking grungy. However, it's still extremely comfortable even though it's structured. It's very dressy for a flannel, but I'd recommend treating it only as a casual shirt. The only slight issue is that the red runs more orange than maroon, presumably to look more vivid, but it's still very pretty.

Nice, soft, warm fabric in a traditional pattern.
